When I first met Clive in John Smiths in Glasgow for the Thief of Always signing in 1992, it was not a widely publicized event. About a hundred or so turned up for it. A phone started ringing in the shop (and it did sound like an alarm!) and he asked the security guard "Is there something I have to do or someplace where I have to go?" . The guard replied, "No Mr Barker, it's just the phone ringing." and Clive replied "Thank goodness for that, it is probably my writers overactive imagination running on overtime again!" . I was too starstruck to ask him any questions, but he did sign copies of Weaveworld, the Thief of Always, Books of Blood and a VHS cover of Hellraiser for which I am grateful.

That's a cool and funny story.

I haven't been able to meet him yet. Hopefully someday.
