Central Florida horror host, Doctor Xombie and Fiends have touched many hearts and funny bones through their creepy and kooky live shows, parades, and videos. This new book, the VERY FIRST to cover the subject, is part docu-drama and part re-visitation of those fun times with ALL NEW stories and adventures. Anyone who seeks to remember the good old days of watching sci-fi, horror, and comedy must purchase and read this humorous and macabre account of Florida’s strange yet amazing alien horror host.

Zephyrhills, FL – Sept 2018 – “Doctor Xombie And Fiends: The Mostly True Tales Of A TV Horror Host” was written by Roger L. Where is every-Body?

Posted on July 23, 2018 by Roger

Where is every-Body?

Well, as you might have seen I’m changing things up a bit and broadening the scope of this site.

I just got www.XombieInk.com registered and will be using it for sharing my creative output. I’ve used the name for a while but am pushing it forward now.
A little about the new name. I thought it appropriate since Doctor “Xombie” kind of kicked things off and “Ink” refers to the written words (books), artwork, and also the forthcoming comic books. I’m really looking forward to working on and sharing what’s coming up.

As this train gets rolling you can keep up with all that’s new by following the below links:

Workweek Drawing Challenge

Posted on July 20, 2018 by Roger

Greetings,
So I use a Fitbit to keep myself challenged and motivated to do some exercise. It doesn’t always work but it has proven very useful for a lazy bones like me. Most weeks I join in with some friends to a challenge called the “Workweek Hustle” to see who can get the most steps in during a Monday to Friday stretch.

I have been getting back into what I use to love to do. And that is creating more artwork. Recently I’ve come to realize that my creativeness is tied in with my happiness in a lot of ways. I don’t know how I wandered off course but sadly it happened. Well I’m creating more and see my happiness increasing as well. What a wonderful feeling.

Now back to the exercise bit… One of my goals is trying to improve my “comic book style” drawing skills. A couple of my friends are trying the same as well. I thought that if I combined these two things that it might be a great motivator for everyone. So I came up with the “Workweek Drawing Challenge”.

Here were the “rules”:

Post ONE (1) drawing each day of the work week (MON-FRI). That’s 5 drawings in all. Quick sketches or just a simple gesture drawing. We all want to improve and this should be a good motivator. Post SOMETHING to keep in practice and start a habit. No judging just constructive criticism IF you request it when you post.

Well, we tried it out.
(I jump started Thursday and Friday of last week because I was so excited, but sadly I was told that they didn’t count. The reasons were: First because I had done TWO drawings instead of ONE and Second that I couldn’t start early. There are friends for you. HEHE.)
Anyway we are just wrapping things up and I think I can safely say that it was a big success and that we all had a lot of fun. We have new drawings and ideas that we wouldn’t have created other wise.

If you try out the challenge with your friends let me know. I’d love to hear about it or suggestions on any other ‘art challenge’ that got you motivated.
Thanks for reading.
I’ll leave you with a few of my workweek doodles… (all drawn on scrap paper using an ink pen on breaks at work)

I Got Mugged And Booked In One Day!

Posted on June 25, 2018 by Roger

Before anyone gets too excited let me explain it with a picture:

I put together a print-out of the rough book. I did the same thing with the Dr. Paul Bearer’s Creature Feature book which helped a lot. I did this so I can go through the whole thing and do an additional edit on everything and get a better feel of what the final book could be. And honestly it also gives me a big thrill as I can hold a physical version in my hands which gives me an additional push to get through the work of putting it all together.

I also ordered a Doctor Xombie Fluids Mug. I’ve been wanting to order one of these for quite a while now but never got around to it. Bela Lugosi I love it! The picture repeats around the mug. Right now I’m using it on my desk to keep all my writing pens in as I also recently got a Dr. Paul Bearer mug. I do drink a lot but I don’t need to use both at one time. Refills are fine.

On a side note, I am also working on a collaborative comic book side project. I can’t say too much more about that just yet, but keep reading future posts for more.

Well, its pretty late for me and the morning comes early so… until next time…

Got It Going

Posted on April 23, 2018 by Roger

Welcome once again to my ramblings.
I’m happy to say I’ve been a lot more productive than I have in the past and things are starting to chug along nicely.
I only have a couple of specifics to talk about right now, but for the most part I have been drawing/practicing a lot more and getting my writing in order.

With some great encouragement from friends I’ve decided to release the Doctor Xombie Short Stories Collection in more of a “Junior Novel” type of format, which basically means, for this project, a larger font and shorter page count.  It does make sense since the stories are for a ‘general audience’. More on this as things progress, but you can expect a physical copy as per usual AND also an E-Book version.

I also want to give a shout out to fellow author Matt Curry for the inspiration of adding my drawings to the blog. (Okay I pretty much read his ongoing blog and swiped the idea from him. Although he says others do it, his was the first that really stood out with the excellent content. Plus he’s a big Dr. Paul Bearer fan which makes him A-Okay in my book. (Was that an intentional pun or not? You decide.)
Be sure to check him out on Amazon. https://amzn.to/2FakkaE

That’s it for now and as Doctor Xombie would say:
“Scare Ya Later!”

Review For ‘Dr. Paul Bearer’s Creature Feature’

"A wonderful book. I spent many of my Saturday afternoons watching "Creature Feature", laughing at the horrible movies, and at Mr. Bennick's special brand of humor. It's great to see that he has been remembered." - Carl Stiles (Amazon.com Review)
