Happy Little Xombie

Posted on July 2, 2018 by Roger

I’ve been doing a lot more artwork lately so I’d like to share another painting with you. This Doctor Xombie watercolor is a bit bigger at 9″x12″.
I’m just starting out and basically just experimenting and having fun with the character.

Speaking of having fun… here’s one Bob Ross did for me…

Okay okay. Yeah its just a bit of fun Photoshop that I threw together.
I used a drawing my friend (and comic book artist) David Summey did for me and stuck it on a Bob Ross screen cap. I thought it actually came out pretty darn good.

We are currently working together (along with another friend Mark Freeman) on a Non-Xombie related project which I’ll let you know more about when the time is right.
(A Doctor Xombie project is also very likely in the future as well.) [fingers crossed]

“The Adventures Of Doctor Xombie And Fiends” book is coming along as well. I got a good amount of work in on it this weekend too.

As always, I’d love to hear any feedback or see any artwork you’d like to share either here or on Facebook.

Until next time…

I Got Mugged And Booked In One Day!

Posted on June 25, 2018 by Roger

Before anyone gets too excited let me explain it with a picture:

I put together a print-out of the rough book. I did the same thing with the Dr. Paul Bearer’s Creature Feature book which helped a lot. I did this so I can go through the whole thing and do an additional edit on everything and get a better feel of what the final book could be. And honestly it also gives me a big thrill as I can hold a physical version in my hands which gives me an additional push to get through the work of putting it all together.

I also ordered a Doctor Xombie Fluids Mug. I’ve been wanting to order one of these for quite a while now but never got around to it. Bela Lugosi I love it! The picture repeats around the mug. Right now I’m using it on my desk to keep all my writing pens in as I also recently got a Dr. Paul Bearer mug. I do drink a lot but I don’t need to use both at one time. Refills are fine.

On a side note, I am also working on a collaborative comic book side project. I can’t say too much more about that just yet, but keep reading future posts for more.

Well, its pretty late for me and the morning comes early so… until next time…

Procrastination Level 11

Posted on June 19, 2018 by Roger

“Writer Procrastination turned up to 11!!!”

Loosely translated as:
“I mowed my yard in 96 degree Florida weather today instead of working on my book.”

lawnmower

Remember Boys and Ghouls. Stay hydrated.
That is all.
See you next week.

Books On Comix On My Mind

Posted on June 11, 2018 by Roger

I have two more book recommendations for you that I have been reading and enjoying.john byrne and webcomics
The first is another in the ‘Modern Masters’ series about comic book creators.
As with the others in the series it has a very good interview and tons of artwork. John Byrne has always been a real inspiration to me personally so going through this is a pure joy.
You can grab a copy here: Modern Masters Volume 7: John Byrne

The other is a book recommend to me by my good friend and fellow artist Dash Cunning. (Keep an eye on his Dash Cunning Facebook page as he has a lot lined up for the very near future.)

The second is ‘the Webcomics Handbook’. The title pretty much sums up what its about. Let me just say that it is jam packed with great recommendations and instructions on how to get you up and running in no time with your own online web comic.
Snag it here: The Webcomics Handbook

On MY writing front, things are slowly progressing. I don’t have an official release date yet, but rest assured there will be e-book AND physical copies.

I’m really getting back to my drawing and artist side and will be posting more next time….
So, until next time…

A Day Late And A Dollar Short

Posted on May 22, 2018 by Roger

As the headline says this post is a day late from the normal Monday slot.
And guess what? It is a dollar short in that I don’t really have anything to say.
Well, I couldn’t think of anything… and still can’t really think of anything interesting or informative to write.
So basically this is all you get this week. Yes I’ve basically wasted your time with this nonsense post about nothing.
I don’t want to leave you with NOTHING AT ALL so I’ll share this cute cat picture with you.

Happy Tuesday. Now get back to doing something productive.

Review For ‘Dr. Paul Bearer’s Creature Feature’

"A wonderful book. I spent many of my Saturday afternoons watching "Creature Feature", laughing at the horrible movies, and at Mr. Bennick's special brand of humor. It's great to see that he has been remembered." - Carl Stiles (Amazon.com Review)
